Being a bride is one of the most exciting experiences a person can have. Building a future with the person you love is cemented on a wedding day. The power and love a couple has for one another is sealed as it was for me on my wedding day. This is why it is so important to look and feel amazing. For my wedding day I contacted Racquel a year ahead but unfortunately, a little too late, she was already booked! I was pretty sad at that point thinking that the confidence I had was taken back. My husband through-out the entire process was very supportive and caring when I told him that Racquel was booked. He knew I was upset but reminded me that I could show up in my pajamas and he would still be ecstatic. I spent almost four months looking for an artist who would make me feel happy and confident on my wedding day. I was very fortunate that my bridesmaid found one for me. I went for my consult and loved everything from hair to makeup. Being that my skin is very sensitive, I was very cautious as to what products were being used.
Finally when my wedding day arrived I was very excited. I woke up bright and early and headed to get my hair and makeup done at the salon. I was very happy with the outcome for the wedding. It was not until the evening that things turned sour. Somehow there was a mix up with the hair and makeup artist who was supposed to come in the evening. It turned out he was not able to make it. I did not panic but felt sad that I would not feel or look the way I wanted. My bridesmaid did the best she could and contacted a person who tracked down an artist who could come to my home. Being that the wedding was a Catholic wedding in the morning and a more Indian themed reception in the evening, I was really hoping that my hairstyle would change. However, the artist was only for makeup. So I took my chances and was just eager to get the show on the road. It was not until I got to the hotel that I was able to get a closer look at my makeup. I was not happy at all but did not want to show it to anyone as after all, it was the happiest day of my life.
Original Look (Reception Day)
Our wedding ceremony was amazing and the reception was a blast. It was not until I got the pictures of the wedding from our photographer that was I upset. I really did not like my makeup. It was a very bold look for me and gave me an irritated, blotchy look. I even went as far as having the photographer put mostly black and whites in the wedding album for the reception.
Original Look (Reception Day)
Even before my wedding I would always look at Racquel’s website. After my wedding I still always kicked myself for not figuring out how to get a date to accommodate Racquel. I know for many people reading this it may sound crazy or absurd to change a date for hair and makeup, but trust me it is not! If I could do anything it would be to change the date for Racquel and her team.
When I read about Racquel getting married, I sent her a congratulations email and told her how I wished I had her for my wedding day. Of course Racquel replied! It was a few months later that I was sent another email in which Racquel offered me the opportunity to “Re-live the moment”. I was thrilled! I replied promptly and to no surprise Racquel got the ball rolling and had me in for a consult as soon as possible. My consult was with Thuy who was very professional and caring. She answered all of my questions and encouraged me to contact them at anytime.
The day of the photo-shoot I was super excited. My very loving husband was so excited for me, came along for this once in a life time experience! I met with Katy and Racquel who both made me feel beautiful once I stepped in the door.
Katy the artist who did my make-up was simply incredible. Not only was she caring, considerate and kind, she was very talented. Both Racquel and Katy were patient and friendly and always asked how I was doing and made sure I was comfortable. Working as an artist I can just image the patience and creativity you would need. I truly admire Katy for the aspirations she has to be successful at what she does. My makeup was amazing, my skin was not irritated and I felt very comfortable.
When my makeup was done, I had the pleasure of meeting Suzy my hair artist. Once again I was impressed with the calm and professional manner she worked in. Suzy was able to give me the look I wanted, without me even saying a thing. She was very precise and extremely talented. Once again she always made sure I was happy and comfortable. There was not a moment that Racquel, Katy, Suzy and I were not smiling or having a great time.
After I was dressed it was time for the photo shoot with Racquel. We went over to the famous “dungeon” where Racquel quickly showed her talent and love for photography. The posing angles and hand positions were all comfortable and the experience was great.
Right after the “Re-live the moment” was complete I felt that there was something still missing from my day. I had my husband by my side and we went to visit my very loving family. My father-law was just getting ready for work when he saw me at the bottom of the stairs. He was overwhelmed with happiness to see me in my wedding outfit and looking radiant that he ran quickly to get his camera and my mother in law. We all took pictures and reminisced of our very special wedding day that was so dear to the entire family.
After my experience that day, I have never felt happier about my wedding day. So much that I am ready to enlarge a reception photo or myself that my family has wanted! I have come across many people in my life that have their own ways of doing things and their own views. I love and appreciate how Racquel will never judge someone for their decisions and loves to live her life in a positive light. A person can have a talent, but how the talent is used is their choice. I am very happy that Racquel and her whole team use their talents to make others love the way they feel.
It’s true that amazing makeup, hair and photos can make a person look
and feel like one in a million, but working with people who are able to
create that effect, is priceless. Thank you for giving my family and me
an experience I will hold close to my heart forever.
With Love
Jessie Claudio
